Vision of the CEO of Nepal’s Employees Provident Fund (EPF)
My vision is to redefine institutional stewardship by harmonizing financial rigor with transformative social impact. I have anchored EPF’s mission on empowering contributors through holistic welfare frameworks that transcend conventional fiscal metrics, positioning social security as a catalyst for intergenerational equity and inclusive prosperity.
Redefining Social Security as Holistic Welfare
A cornerstone of this vision is the expansion of healthcare benefits to include contributors’ spouses and families, ensuring families remain resilient during medical emergencies. This initiative reflects EPF’s commitment to human-centric governance, where financial instruments are designed to address real-world vulnerabilities. By channelizing over 95% of EPF’s earnings directly into member benefits—through data-driven investments, risk-mitigated portfolios, and interest redistributions, we prioritize tangible outcomes over abstract fiscal benchmarks. This approach not only secures contributors’ financial futures but also amplifies their quality of life, reinforcing EPF’s role as a social safety net with measurable societal impact.
Digital Innovation for Universal Accessibility
To democratize access, EPF has undergone a comprehensive digital overhaul, transitioning to a fully faceless, paperless ecosystem that enhances efficiency, transparency, and geographical inclusivity. Strategic partnerships, such as the API-based integration with payment service provider’s infrastructure, enable contributors to manage loans and transactions seamlessly via online portals and digital platforms. These innovations align with global benchmarks, which leverage cutting-edge technologies to optimize service delivery. Looking ahead, we aim to deploy advanced analytics and AI-driven tools to personalize member experiences while expanding remote outreach through mobile applications.
Governance and Resilience in a Dynamic Economy
Institutional integrity forms the bedrock of EPF’s operational philosophy. Under my leadership, we have institutionalized transparent governance frameworks and robust risk management protocols to safeguard member assets against macroeconomic volatility. By adopting guidelines of ISSA such as strategic asset allocation, diversified portfolios, and adherence to global compliance standards—we ensure fiscal resilience while maximizing returns in local context. Furthermore, EPF’s investments in critical infrastructure projects, such as hydropower and tourism including 456 MW Upper Tamakoshi Hydropower and Nepal Airlines Initiative, exemplify our dual mandate of driving national development and securing long-term yields for contributors.
Leadership in Social Security
My aspiration is to position EPF as an exemplary of efficiency, innovation, and ethical governance. This entails fostering collaborations with international institutions like ISSA, World Bank, ILO and ADFIA to integrate best practices in pension fund management, digital inclusion, and sustainable investing.
A Legacy of Inclusive Progress
Guided by a cultured and energetic team, we are building an EPF that is adaptive, inclusive, and future-ready. Through iterative policy reforms, stakeholder engagement, and a relentless focus on member welfare, we are crafting an institution that balances fiscal prudence with social empathy. In essence, my vision is to transform EPF into a beacon of trust and innovation, where every decision—from social security coverage expansions to algorithmic investment strategies—resonates with the ethos of equitable progress.
